Join Coastal Empire Habitat for Humanity as we fund raise to build five new Habitat homes in Chatham County during 2018!

We are an affordable housing ministry committed to partnering with local, hardworking families to realize their dream of owning quality, affordable and energy-efficient homes throughout Chatham County, GA.

How It Works

A family’s partnership with Habitat means they have a stable place to live and to spend time together. An affordable mortgage or small loan means they have a chance to create savings and invest in their education. A decent roof over their heads establishes home as a place that protects — instead of endangering — their health.

Habitat works with families to help them acquire the access, skills and financial education necessary for them to be successful homeowners. By partnering with us, families seize the opportunity and possibility that decent, affordable housing represents. Through shelter, we empower.

  • Partner families contribute 350 hours of sweat equity working on the construction of their home and the houses of other homeowners.
  • Donors provide financial and in-kind gifts to fund the construction of the houses.
  • Volunteers work alongside the partner families to construct or rehabilitate the houses.

Upon completion, the house is sold to the partner family, who then pays a no-interest mortgage to Habitat Savannah.

Their monthly mortgage payment is added to other mortgage payments and donations to allow us to continue our mission of building safe, decent and affordable housing.

Why We Build

  • Housing insecurity touches nearly half of adults at some point in their lives.
  • Since 1983, Coastal Empire Habitat for Humanity has had an impact of over $90 million on the Chatham County economy.
  • Families paying too high a percentage of their income for housing often find themselves making impossible choices. Rent or health care? Food or transportation?
  • Habitat homeowners contribute $167,000 in property taxes to Savannah/Chatham County annually.

Your Donation

Your donation will fund the construction of Habitat homes in Chatham County, Georgia. We will send you updates on the funding and construction of the homes. You are also welcome to attend home ground-breaking ceremonies, dedication ceremonies and can even participate in a home build if you would like! You will receive email updates about these opportunities and will be able to see our progress throughout the year!
